Desired Changes to a Portion of the Apopka High School Art Department

We, the united students of Mr. Macias classes here at Apopka Senior High School, sign this petition in order to mandate one of the following necessary changes: that either our teacher begins to teach a standardized class that focuses on individual development and learning, or that he is replaced by someone qualified to fill his position. We as a class are tired of attending Digital Photograph and Commercial Art only to have our artwork, which by definition is subjective, criticized, and receive grades entirely based upon the opinion of the teacher. Many of us try for hours, without any direction, to attain an undefined level of artistic skill in order to receive a passing grade. We pay for our education through our parents tax dollars, and deserve changes in these specific classes that represent a true commitment to the students.
