Katie is a beautiful and vibrant 6 year old girl who has loved animals since she was at least 3 months old. Her mom recalls wondering what Katie was always squealing about while peering out the back window in her infant car seat. It would be the joy of watching neighbourhood dogs running down the street.
Unfortunately on Friday, August 28, 2009 while celebrating multiple family birthdays, this little girl's love of dogs may be destroyed due to a family member's Chocolate Labrador.
Katie spent the day playing with her aunt's 3 or 4 year old dog as she always has before. At around 10pm he came up to her tail wagging and she went to hug him, as she has always done before. He "snarled a gut wrenching snarl and tore into her face, narrowly missed her eye and tore through her lip. She got 3 stitches."
An attack report was filled out and both Chris and Barb, Katie's parents, assumed there was no question as to the fate of the dog. Unfortunately, the family members who own the dog have confirmed that they're KEEPING him. This is the second dog that they have had violence issues with (kitten attack).
This tears my heart in two knowing that this beautiful girl has to endure this massive amount of pain at such a young age. I cannot comprehend how I would react if it were my sister choosing the companionship of an animal over the safety of her nieces and own children.

My princess was bitten in the face at 3 years old it was a feeling that I never wanted to experience again but here we are reliving the horror . The owners of that dog (my sister)gave it ten minutes and it was to never bite again , as well they showed up

This is heart wrenching i too have a 6 year old chocolate lab and 4 children in my house and could not imagine this situation from either side. however the right choice needs to be made.

It would seem that Chris' sister and Katie's Aunt has lost sight of what has truly happened here. Katie is a wonderful, beautiful little girl who was violently attacked by this animal and I would just like to say SHAME ON YOU TERESA!!!!!!! I hope for your
