DSL 4 Magalia

My name is Michael Norton, I live in Magalia California. I have been trying to convince the telcos (telephone companies) to provide us with DSL services for the past 3 years. I have been told over and over that they are not interested in offering DSL in Magalia due to economic reasons. I firmly believe that there are enough people on the Upper Ridge to make it financially sucsessful for the local telcos. We will submit this petition to SBC in hopes that they will make this valuable service available to us. If that doesn't work, I will take my campaign to the Utilities Commission to try to put pressure on SBC to add DSL services to the neighborhood.

What we need is the names and phone numbers of anyone interested in the possibility of getting DSL service. If you don't know what DSL is, here is a brief explanation:

DSL stands for Digital Subscriber Line and it is a way of providing high speed internet access through your existing phone line. With DSL, you will be able to talk on the phone while you are connected to the internet without the need for another phone line. In fact you are always connected to the internet. If you are using a dial-up modem to connect now, you are lucky if you can connect at a speed faster than 28k. DSL has varying pricing options starting at download speeds of 608k. That is over 20X faster than dial-up! More expensive plans provide speeds of up to 1500k or over 50X faster.
