Dear Mayor Blumberg,
Child Abuse has been with us for a long time. We have laws to punish abusers and agencies that help to protect children but it still happens and often goes unreported. WHY? We think it is a lack of education. Teachers have to learn about how to recognize abuse and report it before they can teach.
Why not students and parents? Every week in schools we have an aids awareness week where we learn about how to prevent AIDS. Lets do the same thing to STOP CHILD ABUSE. We would like you to add child abuse awareness and prevention to the curriculum for all New york City students and parents. It will save countless children from abuse.
