For every two hours you spend in a smoke-filled environment such as a bar or nightclub, you are inhaling the equivalent of one pack of cigarettes in secondhand smoke.
For those who work in these environments for an eight-hour shift, they are inhaling the equivalent of four packs of cigarettes during their shift! This is extremely detrimental to their health, and something needs to be done about it!
This is the approach that the state of California took when banning cigarettes from all public places throughout the entire state. It was done to protect the workers.
There are far fewer smokers and tobacco-related illnesses in California now than there were just a few years ago. And businesses such as bars and nightclubs are doing better than ever.
Why don't our elected officials here in the state of Pennsylvania follow in the footsteps of California and enact a similar law in order to protect the health of people who patronize and work in bars and nightclubs? Do they not care about the health and well being of their residents? How do lobbyists from the tobacco industry control them so well?

I HAVE READ THE LAW PERTAINING TO BANNING SMOKING IN PLACES AND WOULD LIKE TO SEE THIS BAN ENFORCED TO A LARGER DEGREE. SMOKING IN NEARBY BARS HAS HURT MY BUSINESS SIGNIFICANTLY.

I used to be a smoker and now that I am not I notice the effects of second hand smoke even more. I hate the way I feel after a night of being out with friends and only having one or two drinks. My lungs hurt.
