That the Singapore Elections Act be modified to add the clause that says that, in the event when there is only one candidate for a constituency, that the person has to garner a minimum of 30\% of valid votes from the voters registered in that constituency. Failing to achieve that minimum, will render that seat vacant and a by-election has to be held within 30 days of the election.
This change is applicable to General Elections, By-Elections and Presidential Elections. No one should ever be in elected office by default.
