The Electoral Commission of Kenya has announced that voter registration exercise will last only one month from 15th August 2006. This will lock out many young Kenyans who are yet to get identification cards and those who will attain the age of 18 years before the next general elections.
As believers in the democratic rights of ALL Kenyans, we request that the voter registration exercise by the ECK be extended to last six months between 15th August 2006 and 15th February 2007. This will provide ALL Kenyans with a real opportunity to exercise democratic rights.
