FAF - Merit VS Mention

If you have ever participated in the Fine Arts Festival you understand what an Award of Merit is. It is what the top entry in each category receives. We all aim for it and only few have received one. On the other hand we have the Honorable Mention, in which you receive nothing.
Imagine, your team puts in ridiculous amounts of work, time, blood, sweat and tears as every other team at the festival and yet at the Celebration Service they are merely mentioned and as soon as it arrives it is gone. No award, no presentation, nothing but a mention.
I have been unfortunate enough to experience this. We entered Human Video Ensemble, Spanish and won first place or, "Honorable Mention." That is where the issue lies, not that we won, we are extremely thankful and happy for God allowing us to minister with our gifts and achieve that. It is this, our team worked extremely long hours, paid $450 each and traveled, by BUS, across the United States to Detroit, MI. It was about a 24+ hour trip. It was extremely hard for me to sit there and tell my kids that after all they have been through, they would be getting nothing. That we get "mentioned" and put up on the screen and that is all.
