Whereas the amenity and facilities of the Town of Port Hedland are substandard for regional towns, and the
Budget commitment to the Pilbara was the second lowest as a percentage of Gross Regional Product of all of the State's Regions, and
Mining royalties of approx. $150 million per year from BHPBilliton alone are not reflected in the General Purpose Grant received of less than $1.4 million, and the
Structural unfairness in funding due to the requirement to duplicate Town infrastructure in Port Hedland and South Hedland because of the conscious decision of the State Government to separate the towns, and the
Structural unfairness in funding due to the inability of the Town to rate the biggest Industries in the Town because of a conscious decision of the State Government, and whereas the
Local Government Grants Commission does not account for the signficantly higher level of costs facing Port Hedland and other northern districts, and whereas the
State Government acknowledges the State and National importance of Port Hedland and the importance of the Town's capacity to attract and retain skilled workers,
The Citizens of the Town of Port Hedland hereby Petition the State to Properly and Adequately fund the Town of Port Hedland so as it may reach a standardof amenities and facilities equal to other major Towns of the State.

Please seriously think about the things that are seemingly always against us, like high air fairs, rates, grocery prices, fuel prices, and....lack of facilities as well as lack of modern entertainment. not everyone enjoys the "great outdoors".
