From 2001-2003, the first four seasons of Family Matters received a limited-run DVD release. While we were delighted to finally own this wonderful show on a permanent format, we were sorely disappointed with the limited publicity and the complete lack of extras.
In late 2000, the entire Family Matters cast reunited to record commentaries from every episode of the first four series. However, none of these recordings were included on the DVD. This was a huge investment of time for the former cast, and a wonderful gesture to the fans. To keep these commentaries unreleased is nothing short of an insult to the loyal Family Matters fan base.
Furthermore, the moving fly-on-the-wall documentary "Do The Urkel Dance: Life with the Family Matters Cast" has yet to receive any exposure, despide early suggestions of an exclusive DVD release.
This critically acclaimed but criminally unaired film by award-winning Elvis and Slick Monty director Chad McCana is currently only available via fan-circulated VHS bootlegs and illegal file-sharing networks.
On top of this, there is no sign of any DVD release for seasons 5-9, nor the also-unaired 1999 Christmas Special.
We would like to see the following as soon as possible:
-A major re-release of seasons 1-4 with the full cast commentaries intact.
-Assurance that seasons 5-9 will receive the same treatment as soon as possible.
-A release of McCanna's "Do The Urkel Dance" documentary (either as a DVD extra in a future box set, or as a standalone release).
Please give this groundbreaking sitcom the attention it deserves!

I think all episodes of Family Matters should be released on DVD because that is one classic show that future genrations should watch. Also it is not every day you find a family who has a neighbor that makes some of the craziest inventions of all time! I
