Federal Legislation to Make Autopsy Photos" PrivateMedical Records"

To: U. S. House of Representatives and the U. S. Senate We, the Citizen's of the United States, wish to request that legislation be considered by both the U. S. House of Representatives and the U. S. Senate which will make autopsy photos "private medical records" in all 50 states. We do not feel that this kind of photographic document should be considered as an “open public record” to the general public. Though the person in the photographic document may be passed on and no longer with us, their surviving family still lives on and are the most effected by the release of this type of document. This is their love one and they should have a voice in how that love one is displayed to the rest of the world. Currently, there are only two states, Indiana and Florida, that have recently passed legislation to make autopsy photos “private medical records” in their individual states. Now, a person living within these states who wishes to gain access to these types of private documents must go before a court and prove why they would need access to them. Yet, We, the Citizen’s of the United States, wish to see this kind of law established in the rest of the U.S. Sincerely,
