To: Mr. Robert Hanacek
Thames River Basin Manager
U.S. Army Corps of Engineers

We the undersigned, being active recreational users of the Army Corps Mansfield Hollow Impoundment Area, request that the following language (provided in CAPITAL letters) be added to the April 2005 renewal of the License for Fish, Wildlife, and Forest Management Purposes granted by the Corps to the State of Connecticut DEP as licensee:

Paragraph 6: That the licensee may take, trap, remove, stock or otherwise control all forms of fish and wildlife within the said area WITH THE EXCEPTION THAT THERE SHALL BE NO PUBLIC FIREARMS DEER HUNTING; THAT RIGHT BEING RESERVED FOR DEP-CONTROLLED HUNTS INITIATED BY A WRITTEN REPORT BY A DEP BIOLOGIST CITING DEER DAMAGE DETRIMENTAL TO THE LOCAL ENVIRONMENT.

In addition, we ask that similar language be added to the Master Plan and the Fish and Wildlife Management Annex (Appendix D) that specifically prohibits firearms deer hunting from the Mansfield Hollow Impoundment area.
