Depuis plus d'un an, la rйputation de Francis Chartrand, ancien candidat du NPD dans Riviиre-des-Mille-Оles a йtй entachйe, voir salie, par des gens sans scrupule, soit par du salissage via internet, soit un piratage de son blog francischartrandnpd.blogspot.com .

L'Affaire Chartrand a fait la une des journaux locaux dans la rйgion de Deux-Montagnes, tout comme tous les quotidiens nationaux, tel le Toronto Star, journal dont le candidat fut informй de son йvincement.

En guise de contestation au retrait de la candidature du candidat du NPD de Riviиre-des-Mille-Оles, dont des centaines de personnes dйplorent le fait qu'il en a йtй informй par les mйdias dimanche le 16 dйcembre, des candidats ont dйcidй de retirer leur candidature а l'investiture du NPD dans tout le Canada.

Des noms comme Anne Humphreys dans la circonscription de Marc-Aurиle-Fortin, Jeannie Hamel dans la circonscription de Montcalm, Alexandre Laberge dans la circonscription dArgenteuil-Papineau-Mirabel, Mario Langlois dans la circonscription de Laval, Christian Barrette dans la circonscription dAlferd-Pellan, Dounia-Natacha Chikhhani dans la circonscription de Pierrefonds-Dollard, Cynthia Corsilli dans la circonscription de Saint-Jean, Richard Lavigne dans la circonscription de Verchиres-Les-Patriotes, Arif Jinha dans la circonscription de Lanark-Frontenac-Lennox and Addington en Ontario, Ryan Sloan dans la circonscription de Scarborough-Guildwood et Jean-Franзois Jasmain dans la circonscription de Thunder Bay-Rainy River.

Ils avaient fait des dйmarches, avec l'aide et les recommandations de certains membres du NPD des Basses-Laurentides а la fin du mois d'aoыt 2007, pour dйposer un avis de candidature auprиs du conseil fйdйral du NPD а Ottawa. De plus, certains d'entre eux ont participй entre-temps comme bйnйvole а la campagne de Thomas Mulcair avec les membres de l'Association du NPD de Riviиre-des-Mille-Оles en compagnie mкme de Francis Chartrand.

Ils ont longtemps travaillй en sa compagnie lors de rassemblements йtudiants, politiques et pacifistes, et ils ont toujours admirй sa capacitй de rassembleur, sa tйnacitй, sa diplomatie tout comme son franc-parler. Il n'a jamais fait l'objet daucun reproche dans son comptй.

Jusqu'а tout derniиrement, au delа de deux centaines de bйnйvoles йtaient prиs а lui prкter main forte, en vue des prochaines йlections fйdйrales, mкme que M. Chartrand n'йcartait pas la possibilitй de partager ses bйnйvoles avec ses comptйs voisins immйdiats.

Nous dйplorons aussi le fait que le CPE (Comitй de Planification Йlectorale) retire, dans un processus qui aurait du кtre un peu plus transparent, 2 candidats et artisans du NPD au Quйbec, M. Francis Chartrand et Mme Micheline Montreuil, qui tous les 2 ont йtй reconnus dйmocratiquement par leurs associations de comptй.

Dans le contexte actuel et au travers des rumeurs prйsentes, oщ le lieutenant quйbйcois de Jack Layton, Thomas Mulcair, avait promis de dйnicher une dizaine de candidats-vedettes en vue des prochaines йlections, il serait fort а parier que d'autres candidats soient retirйs. Et il est fort parier que le retrait de nos candidatures met le NPD en manque de plus de 800 bйnйvoles. Il serait temps que les membres du parti se rйveillent sur les ravages que causent le CPE.

Plusieurs autres candidats des rйgions de Montrйal et de Quйbec sont en rйflexion. Nous sommes sceptique а la sйlection des candidats du NPD et nous ne sommes pas les seuls. Et nous voulons que le nom de Francis Chartrand soit reconnu comme une source d'honnкtetй et de bravoure.
