From Italy, an appeal to save Casa Collins in Sardinia (La Maddalena)

The promoters of this petition ask the Italian Ministry of  Culture  to commit himself to restoring and enhancing the historical building and surrounding area located in La Maddalena, Moneta, well known residence of the English lady Emma Collins, Giuseppe Garibaldi’s friend.

The over mentioned building doesn’t seem to belong to the regional Administration, but still to the Ministry of Defence. Therefore, it could easily return to  the Municipality of La Maddalena, with the aim of rescuing it from the actual condition of decay ; restoring it, as an architectural  good of historical interest; enhancing it as a museum space with educational purposes as part of the  Garibaldi’s museums circuit , to be returned to the local community and to the international cultural heritage.

Therefore the promoters of this petition hope that the interest, the sensitivity, the love of local, national and international community towards Giuseppe Garibaldi will help finding the funds to restore Casa Collins and  support its following running, with  the intervention of institutions and agencies involved, and through the establishment of a local or wider foundation/association.
