Therefore, we call on you, John Kerry, to authorize the public release of all of your Vietnam military and medical records by completing and signing a form 180, so that we may put to rest the debate, one way or another, over the allegations raised by the group Swift Boat Veterans for Truth and others, and so that we can see if your public statements about your service accurately reflect the record.
We also call for you to publicly release your private attendance record the Senate Intelligence Committee between 1993 and 2000, as you have asserted in the past that your public attendance does not take into account your full attendance. As a public concerned about homeland security, and as a nation that is all too aware of how weaknesses in the intelligence community have contributed to 9/11 (as evidenced in the 9/11 commission and Senate committee reports), it is critically important for us to determine what the record actually is for the Presidential candidates on issues of security and intelligence.
We ask that these records be released without qualification, without requiring any prerequisite similar action from the Bush camp. Releasing the records without equivocation would both recognize the public need for the facts and serve as the best, most honest defense against the various charged laid against you and your campaign that relate to these records. We ask that this be done quickly, to allow time to analyze and debate the facts revealed in the records.
