Dear Mr. President,
As a concerned citizen of The Gambia, I am hereby expressing to you my outrage at what has transpired in our dear country from the day you took over power to date. On December 16, 2004 Gambians all over the world were once again alerted to another senseless killing of another innocent Gambian by the name of Deyda Hydara.

Since your illegal take over of our government, violence against innocent Gambians has not only become common place but it has been done with impunity. From Basiru Barrow, Dott Faal, and co. to Korro Ceesay to the killing of unarmed students to Almamo Manneh to attempted murder of lawyer Ousman Sillah, and the recent killing of Deyda, a pattern of government indifference to investigate has been established. If I may also add that the manner in which all the above were murdered is similar to the way your enforcers such as the July 22nd Thugs, the NIA and the army mercenaries you imported into that country from Libya, Liberia etc. conduct business. Considering the circumstances surrounding all these crimes we are left with no doubt that you are explicitly culpable.

Every human being regardless of who they are, what they are, where they come from, what they do or what they belief deserves a basic fundamental human right to freedom, justice and equality. Therefore, when these rights are violated against anyone, we are all duty bound to not only condemn it but also bring the perpetrators to justice. Whenever there is an absence of any of the above, we are all guilty. Your track record in delivering justice in these circumstances is very poor to say the least.

Sierra Leone, Liberia, Ivory Coast to name a few were once thriving countries with all the promises of a success story. All it took to turn them into war zones was the blatant disregard for freedom and justice for their citizens reminiscent of what we are seeing in todays Gambia. I sincerely belief that Gambia is not immune to the horrors we hear about in those countries.

I therefore urge you to stop the violence against our citizens and turn things around by establishing freedom and justice for everyone and yes that includes your opponents too. Better yet, it will serve you and the country best if you resign and handover to a government that is going be of the people, for the people, and by the people. However, in the interim, we suggest that you do the following:
1. Provide Security to members of the press and the all the opposition leaders
2. Advice members of your security force to desist from carrying out such acts immediately.
