We like to invite everyone to join us and sign the below petition (please see below link) in order to express our outrage against the Iranian authorities and to stop them from the harassment and persecution of individuals and religious minorities in Iran.

The Iranian Islamic Republic under the Mahmud Ahmadinejad government ever since its inception has continued in its relentless suppression of individual freedom within the country. This has carried across many groups within society and religious minorities.

In recent years their acts of suppression and volition of individual human rights has been focused on Iranian Sufis who stand as a voice of moderation and respect for human values, for all cultures and religious groups.

The popularity of Sufis in Iran, which is partly based on their views on respecting all forms of beliefs and individual freedom, has acted as a thorn in the eyes of Iranian authorities who are bent on spreading their own ideology of fundamentalism and intolerance. This ideology has been pushed to extremes under the Mahmud Ahmadinejad presidency who, is known globally for his extreme views and intolerance towards human values.
Therefore, since the start of his presidency the Iranian authorities have increased their persecution of the Sufis, who have suffered extreme waves of intolerance and suppression.

During his presidency the Gonabadi Sufis, who are the largest Sufi order in Iran, have seen their members persecuted, arrested and have witness the destruction of their houses of worship in different cities of Iran. In 2006 Sufi house of worship was destroyed in Quom and in 2007 in Broujered and just few weeks ago in Isfahan. Each of these destructive acts has been followed by, large number of Sufis being arrested, interrogated and injured.

The desecration of sacred sites and harassment of the Sufis have been carried out in response to the popularity of this movement in Iran and as away to stem its popularity.

The Sufis who have been powerful force for Love and tolerance since the early day of Islam in Iran have been responsible for great cultural and scientific movements within the country. The well known Sufis like Hafez, Rumi, and Saadi have been an immense influence in Irans cultural growth and their works have been benchmark for human tolerance, freedom and brotherhood not only in Iran but through out the world.
These great Sufis and the Sufi movement in general have been source of national pride within the country and through their contributions they are generally accept as one of world great spiritual and cultural movements. The Sufis contribution to Iran, which is based on their mystical practices and inner spiritual development, is something this current Iranian regime under the Mahmud Ahmadinejad government has tried hard to prevent and suffocate by its cruel and unjust activities.

Therefore, we would like to ask you to join us in expressing your support for this humanitarian and spiritual movement which is based on Love and respect for humanity and rights of individuals by signing this petition.
