Since then, Twilight has sold over 100,000 copies in print, reading in at least twenty different languages to date. It reached the fifth position on the NY Time's Best Seller list and won an extensive selection of prestigious honors, some of which include: Teen People's "Hot List" pick, Publisher Weekly's "Best Book of the Year", and the New York Times' "Editor's Choice".
On March 11, 2004, if not even earlier, Paramount, MTV, and Maverick collectively bought the rights to consider making a film adaptation of Twilight. Since then, they have renewed the option to last until April 2008, at which point they can buy the rights or let the rights come back to Stephenie Meyer.
Many fans of the Twilight book have become anxious, to say the least, about the progress of this film. For years, now, breaths have been held in anticipation and speculation, the disappointment on the faces of countless fans apparent as they conclude their daily searches for information with a sigh. Progress seems standstill, and for fans that want nothing more than to live and breathe Twilight, this is pure torture.
Though Twilight is a timeless book that is bound to last for many decades and centuries to follow, its followers are not as immortal as the vampires which they have easily come to love, and though some will want to keep Twilight as a secret so special that they want to keep it to themselves, the rest have decided that life is too short to simply do nothing.
It is time to share Twilight with the others who have not yet experienced it. Together, Paramount, MTV, Maverick, and a cast of unknown actors can do this and change the world.
