Many times, I have driven past Lobely Park in Churchill and thought of how potentially dangerous it is that the park isnt fenced. It is has 2 main roads running along either side and very busy intersection which joins these 2 busy roads. Today, that thought became a reality for me. My almost 2yr old son was riding his trike and turned in the direction of the intersection. I told him no and to come to me and in the slpit moment it took for me to get up and go after him, he took off and by the time I reached him, he was on the road. This is NOT a case of neglect as he was close by and I was watching him the whole time, but those few seconds it toof to me to stand and chase after him was enough to put quite a bit of distance between us. I am thankful that the person driving the oncoming car saw him and I and stopped. I couldnt imagine where we would all be now (driver included) if things have turned out for the worst and I would like to prevent this ever becoming a reality for anyone else.
