Twenty years ago, between October 31st and November 3rd 1984, thousands of innocent Sikhs, including children, were systematically hunted down all over India. Thousands of male Sikhs were viciously beaten and scores more were burnt alive and many Sikh women were also beaten, gang raped and then killed. Nearly four thousand in Delhi alone, the Indian capital, were murdered. In this same calculated manner, Sikh properties and businesses worth several billions of dollars, were also looted and destroyed.

Since 1984 successive Indian Governments have set up various commission after commission to investigate these heinous crimes. The most current one is the Nanavati commission which is set to report in December 2004. No meaningful or definitive action has been taken against the overwhelming majority of the perpetrators.

Therefore this petition has been set up to demand the following:

1. To have the perpetrators of these heinous crimes be prosecuted and brought to justice
2. To remove the perpetrator, Jagdish Tytler from his post as Minister of NRI Affairs
3. To provide appropriate compensation for the victims of the 1984 Sikh Riots.
4. Government protection for prominent Sikh lawyer H.S. Phoolka and his associates

It is a travesty that Sikhs the world-over are still searching for justice 20 years later after these tragic events had unfolded.

Please join us by signing this petition, which will be the worlds largest coordinated Sikh campaign ever to see that justice is carried out. This petition will span at least 4 continents and many countries. It will be posted both on the internet and signed in hard copy form.

We the undersigned urge the above mentioned to see that justice is carried out and that investigative agencies shed light on the prominent role played by Sajjan Kumar, Jagdish Tytler and HKL Bhagat as overwhelming evidence has indicated that these men, among others, were involved in the anti-Sikh carnage that took place in India from October 31st to November 3rd 1984, following the assassination of the former prime minister of India, Indira Gandhi.

Twenty years ago, between October 31st and November 3rd 1984, thousands of innocent Sikhs, including children, were systematically hunted down all over India. Since Indias inception, disproportionately to its size, the Sikh Quam has fought for the integrity of India throughout its history with many of its members having achieved the highest ranks within all three divisions of the Indian Armed Forces and having been sighted time and again for medals of valour and courage in defence of this country; having lost 83,000 members and 109,000 wounded in World War I & World War II.

The massacres of 1984 were not a just way to reward the sons that had and still continue to protect Indian soil with honour and dignity.

It is a travesty that Sikhs the world-over are still searching for justice 20 years later after these tragic events had unfolded.
