We, the undersigned received distressing news today, March 11th 2009 regarding Nashville's beloved WSM Personality Keith Bilbrey, and hope to bring to your attention the shock we feel over this news of WSM giving Keith "the pink slip" after all his years of service for your station. Keith has been a voice we fans and friends have depended on for 34 years, he is an institution in this town and not someone who should be tossed aside in these hard economic times. When the world is in turmoil the one thing we all look to is our roots, our music, the voices that comfort us. Keith has been a stellar voice on the radio, conversing with artists, sharing stories from his vast experiences, stories that make us feel we are right there with him. Keith's passion, his life is WSM and the Grand Ole Opry. What on earth could make you take him not only off the air but away his wonderful role as an Opry announcer? This is akin to ripping the heart right out of him.
We hope you can PLEASE reconsider and keep Keith on the air, or at least let him continue to be part of the "live" Opry shows.
Thank you for your attention to this very important matter.
