Keep Kevin Garnett in Minnesota

We, Minnesotans and basketball fans alike, call upon the management of the Minnesota Timberwolves to put an end to the trade rumors and speculation surrounding Kevin Garnetts future as a member of the Timberwolves. We also wish to express our desire for the management to keep Mr. Garnett where he should be in Minnesota.

As the management certainly knows, not only is Mr. Garnett important as a basketball player on the court, but he is also the face of the Timberwolves franchise off the court. Thus, the management of the Timberwolves surely must understand that keeping him in Minnesota, in addition to making basketball sense, makes financial sense as well. Were Mr. Garnett to leave the Timberwolves organization, ticket and merchandise sales would plummet, and the franchise would risk years of mediocrity, not to mention potential collapse.

Again as management surely understands, the nature of a market as small as Minnesotas is such that a franchise needs a player like Kevin Garnett to succeed; but, it is not just the market that needs Kevin Garnett - even more than that, it is the people. He represents much more to the people of Minnesota than just a face to sell a franchise. He is a role model and a hero, and is as much a part of Minnesota culture as anyone or anything.

Minnesotans everywhere would be heartbroken to see Mr. Garnett leave. Thus, in addition to the fact that it would likely scar the franchise for the forseeable future, his departure would affect the lives of countless Minnesotans and fans, leaving a deep void within their hearts.

We hope that this petition is able to convey to both the Timberwolves management and to Mr. Garnett himself how much he means to both the State of Minnesota and to Timberwolves fans everywhere. And more importantly, we hope for a long and successful future between Kevin Garnett and the State of Minnesota.
