On the message board on your official website you have stated today:
The Message Board on Duranduran.com was originally developed as a place for our fans to go to meet one another, make friends and discuss Duran Duran. Over the last year or so, however, the Board has changed enormously and moved away from the vision we first had for it. We are working on making all kinds of exciting internet-based upgrades in the Duran World over the course of the next six months as we prepare to launch our new album. As part of this, in keeping with many other artists official websites, we have decided to dismantle the Message Board on DD.com, allowing you to migrate to either the Duranduranmusic.com Boards or those operated by many of the fan-runs sites that now exist. Our decision is partially in response to an overwhelming number of requests from our fans, many of whom seem to feel exactly like us with regard to the Board. We are confident that the other active Boards will suit your needs and would like to give you one weeks notice, starting today, January 3rd, to make sure you are able to extract whatever information and contacts you want before the board is removed on January 10th, 2007.
With this plea we, loyal fans, ask you to reconsider this decision. Based on our experiences, we feel the other message boards you refer us to are no match for the duranduran.com message board.
The board has become a community for us where we share our ideas and opinions about your music, experiences from concerts and many other related matters.
So many of us, after having become acquainted on the message board, have become friends in real life, getting together on various joyous occasions -- not only concerts but also events specifically organized.
If the message board is removed, these friendships will suffer, and no doubt feelings of loyalty will be affected accordingly. Therefore we ask you kindly but urgently to change the plans and keep the existing message board active.
Youll come to realize the incredible feeling of being connected that the message board has instilled on its community, your loyal fans. Please dont destroy what youve built up over the past five years.
