Honorable Ban Ki-moon, Secretary General of the United Nations,
Honorable Members of the UN Security Council
The United Nations and the World have condemned Gaddafis Crimes and voted to impose an urgently-needed no-fly zone. This resolution has indeed saved the lives of thousands of Libyans.
Typical of his disregard of the law and his disrespect for human life, Gaddafi continues to look for ways to use his aircraft to kill yet more people. In the past two days, Gaddafi has employed the use of small propeller aircraft disguised with Red Crescent symbols to drop bombs and mines over areas inhabited by civilians.
We call upon the UN to take additional steps to condemn these illegal actions by Gaddafi and to make a formal request to NATO to step up its operations.
According to Ambassador Gene Cretz, Gaddafi may have killed up to thirty thousand Libyans in just the past three months. In addition, the number of injured, kidnapped, and imprisoned is now approaching one hundred thousand. Your urgent action is therefore needed
The Libyan people as well as history will recognize all those who stood by them in this hour of need. We are confident that you will continue choose to be on the side of the Libyan people as they struggle to be free from the rule of this homicidal dictator.
Sincerely,
The Libyan Community in North America
