Make Dance Dance Revolution an Official American Sport

As many players and supporters of DDR (Dance Dance Revolution) know, Norway recently deemed DDR an official sport of their nation.

We here want the same.

The news from Norway (Source: DDRFreak [http://www.DDRFreak.com])triggered the formation of a local DDR League. The league, tentatively titled "Maximum Overdrive", was formed by two teenage DDR Players: Case Boyle [14 yrs. old] [League Founder] and Brian Tompkins [13 yrs. old] [League co-founder]. The news also inspired them to start this petition.

The controversy of DDR to be considered a sport or not was very big on the DDRFreak.com Forums, of which Boyle was a member of. This had him thinking much about the subject. The real inspiration came when thge news from Norway arrived.

The Maximum Overdrive project started simple: Make some promotional items (Shirts, Hats, etc.) and start an online movement. (http://MaximumOverdriveNY.tripod.com) complete with an online petition, a material petition, and a good idea to get members by means of going to the mall arcade, which is known to have a good amount of highly DDR-supportive players.

Basically all we ask is for anyone that supports DDR to please sign this petition. Come on, if ESPN can broadcast poker as a sport, why not DDR? Plus, DDR actually matches the criteria of the word "Sport", which technically is "Any activity with a governed set of rules and is played competitively". DDR exactly mentions that. The definition also mentions, "Any activity with a set of set rules that involves physical exertion and is played competitively." Last we remember the only thing physically exerted in Poker was your thumbs.

So, if you agree, please sign this petition in hopes of us reaching our desire of DDR becoming a sport.
