Mets "New 8th Inning Song"

Today, April 8, 2008, New York Mets managment announced the winning vote of an online survey to choose the "New 8th Inning Song" to be played during the 8th inning of every home game.





The winner of this contest was not of the 10 candidates that the Mets organization provided, but through their "Other" category where Mets fans could suggest their own song. Mets fans have spoken and through a landslide vote the winner of the contest was "Never Gonna Give You Up" by artist Rick Astley.





After announcing this contest and stating that they will play the winning song during the 8th inning, Mets managment retracted that statement after seeing what the winning song was. This song does not include vulgar or negative words, but still Mets managment decided that this song will not be played during the 8th inning.





So was it really up to the fans to decide what song the fans wanted to hear? Apparently not.
