Microsoft Windows 2000 Service Pack 5

Microsoft has stated that there will not be a Windows 2000 Service Pack 5. Instead there will only be a security rollup package due to appear sometime in 2005. While Microsoft has stated that their customers drove this decision, it does not seem to make any sense to have one major rollup and then all kinds of little updates here and there until the Windows 2000 product reaches its end of life.
These updates could be difficult to keep track of--much more so than a service pack. Also, there are still some major bugs that remain in the Windows 2000 OS that could be addressed by another service pack.
Microsoft has publicly stated that Windows 2000 will be supported in some way until 2010 at the least. This seems like an awfully long time to go without fixing OS problems and bundling things up into a service pack release.
This seems like a ridiculous policy for Microsoft to take, especially since Windows 2000 remains in wide use in both business and even some home environments.
