Movement for the Actualization of Edo International Airport Project (MAEIA)

The MAEIA Project was envisioned to bring together well meaning Edo State indigenes around the world in an effort aimed at actualizing the construction of a new airport befitting a state like ours.
The Benin airport over the last three decades has served as a hub for many Nigerians and indeed travelers from around the globe either as a transit point, or final destination.
Increase in population comes with responsibility for strong maintenance culture, facility expansion, and improved technology; sadly that has not been the case with the current Benin airport.
Recently, the Minister of aviation threatened to close down the Benin airport due to safety concerns. Worthy of mention is the fact that certain areas close to the airport have had to endure significant noise pollution from multiple flight covering the Oba palace, and king square areas where noise from these airplanes are most noticeable and constituting a health hazard. This should be unacceptable to our people.
There is an urgent need for us to take collective action to see that this project indeed becomes a reality.
