We, the veterans of the former USS America CV66, other veterans, as well as citizens of the United States of America are dedicated to influencing decision makers in the Oval Office, Congress and the Secretary of the Navy to name the soon to be constructed LHA(R) 6 - USS America.
LHA(R) 6 will be the first of a new class and the largest of all amphibious warfare ships. It resembles a small aircraft carrier; capable of Vertical/Short Take Off and Landing (V/STOL), Short Take Off Vertical Landing (STOVL), Vertical Take Off and Landing (VTOL) tiltrotor and Rotary Wing (RW) aircraft operations; contains a welldeck to support use of Landing Craft Air Cushion (LCAC) and other watercraft.
