Negative Implications of Closing Gold Ridge

As concerned parents and residents of Rohnert Park, we feel that consolidating the students at Gold Ridge Elementary school onto the campuses of other schools in the district, but primarily Evergreen and Hahn, will create more problems than it attempts to solve. These problems include, but are not limited to, the following:
1. With both schools populated above their current operational capacity, there will be supervision and discipline issues during lunch, recess, and assemblies that cannot be alleviated through the instillation of portable classrooms.
2. Forcasted enrollment that surpasses the current operation capacity at both schools will create an unsafe traffic situation in both of the neighborhoods where the schools are located.
3. The school district should offer at least one small school in Rohnert Park for children who simply will not thrive in a large school setting. Closing Gold Ridge takes that option away from parents in Rohnert Park.
