Neurofibromatosis. Hard to pronounce? Try living with the most common neurological disorder. Neurofibromatosis (NF) is divided into NF1, affecting every 1 in 4,000 births and NF2 affecting 1 in every 40,000 births. NF is known to cause cognitive disorders, chronic muscle and joint pain, the growth of several tumors on the spine, brain, just about anywhere in the human body. There is no treatment or cure for NF, other than surgery. Often surgery is not an option due to the complexity of the surgery. Often after surgery, a tumor(s) grow back. If a cause and cure are to be found for NF in the near future, government, the medical community, and the general public must be made fully aware of the scope of Neurofibromatosis.
