NHL Season Cancellation

To Whom It May Concern:

We, the signers of this document, have been National Hockey League fans, most of us for all of our lives. After the events taking place during the lockout that would result in the death of the 2004-2005 National Hockey League season and the emotional roller coaster your organizations imposed on us during the proverbial 11th hour, we are in great dismay at the results and have vowed never to invest a single penny into the National Hockey League for as long as it will last. We feel very betrayed and disappointed that we have spent many months without the ability to view our favorite teams playing our favorite sport only to have this incredible last minute hope crushed by the National Hockey League and the National Hockey League Players Association.

We also are incredibly disgusted with the facts surrounding this lockout in which the sole motive here was greed, a motive that no leader could try and deny. Back in the late 1970s and early 1980s, hockey was played professionally because it was a sport that players and fans could love and enjoy and it was both loved and enjoyed. Now it is nothing more than a ridiculous charade in which shallow-minded players are receiving paychecks in two weeks that match the salaries of the every day middle-class worker. Not only the players are at fault, but the owners as well for consistently applying their greed at the expense of the hearts of what were the NHLs fans. Even in the science of compromise, both sides decided they were going to reach their limit and nothing more.

In the end, the only people suffering are the fans that at the moment fans are feeling the effects of heartbreak and disgust as they know they will not witness an NHL game until at least September 2005 or at this rate maybe even later than that. The National Hockey League and National Hockey League Players Association have played games with our souls and emotions for the last time. Never again shall you receive a single cent from us for however long the National Hockey League will last. Thank you for ignoring us during the entire process and good luck with any other tragedies you wish to set forth.
