Protest to preserve the yummy Hot Cross Bun becoming a standard item in supermarkets, thereby taking away it's traditional association with Easter and making it ordinary.
By selling the Hot Cross Bun in supermarkets as from today, 3 January, 2012, the bun will no longer be a symbol of Easter to be anticipated with gastronomic delight when it's spicy aroma is detected close to the Easter period. It will loose any association with Easter and instead become a standard stocked item.
We are not against Hot Cross Buns, on the contrary, we LOVE them and do not want our annual enjoyment of this traditional Easter fare to be watered down and commercialised to the point of it becoming a common, everyday, bakery item!
Apart from signing this petition, which will be forwarded to the major supermarkets, make your disappointment known, politely, to your local supermarket whenever you see Hot Cross Buns stocked.
Thank you for your support!
