No Superfund Needed in Pompton Lakes

We, the undersigned, as residents of Pompton Lakes, New Jersey oppose the current initiative to reclassify the DuPont property and surrounding neighborhoods as a "Superfund" site.
We acknowledge the continued need for remediation and protection of our residents and the environment that we all live in.
We are also aware of the possibility for continued human exposure that remains until the groundwater plume is completely cleaned of all VOCs and their related components.
We believe that the RCRA Administrative Consent Order laws and guidelines, when fully enforced, will help to continue this cleanup to the desired results.
We are also aware that the United States Environmental Protection Agency has been in charge of this contamination since the order was in place.
We are asking the following:
(1) Do not change the status of the cleanup effort, since this change would afford us no benefits, and may actually slow down any chance of remediation;
(2) Ensure that a thorough investigation is done to verify that all efforts are being put towards cleaning our neighborhoods in a more timely manner, or with more urgency than has been historically shown, and protecting those living in the affected areas;
(3) Provide for more public input during the entire process of this cleanup, in the form of public meetings, so that the residents' opinions can be voiced before decisions are made regarding our community.
