No Transportation Center next to Five Oaks Middle School

We are opposed to the school district's plan to store and operate 180 diesel
school buses at a site adjacent to Five Oaks Middle School.
There is a substantial body of medical evidence and testimony before the
board demonstrating that diesel pollution has a serious, detrimental effect
on children's health. The fumes and pollution from 180 diesel buses idling
while they warm up their engines, immediately next to school playing fields
and classrooms, can cause cancer, asthma attacks and a permanent decrease
in children's lung capacity.
At the next school board meeting, the board should raise and pass a motion
insisting that the school district cancel this project, and start looking at
alternative locations for storing school buses. The health of the students
of Five Oaks Middle School depends on it.
