On February 5, 2006, an angry demonstration against Jyllands Posten was held in Lebanon, which transformed quickly into violent rioting, and drifted away from the main purpose of the demonstration, therefore leading to the destruction of Lebanese property in the Lebanese town of Achrafieh, and the torching of the Danish embassy in Lebanon.
As a Lebanese citizen, and a believing muslim, I would like to denounce what had happened yesterday in Achrafieh, Lebanon, from torching of buildings to setting cars alight to destruction of property. These actions do not represent the real face of Islam, which is based on modesty towards God. If these actions were aimed at expressing outrage at Jyllands Posten in a civilised manner, then they have clearly drifted away from their main purpose towards aimless violence, destruction of property, and inhumane behaviour.
