Opposition to BSR's & USPA intervention to address Canopy Collisions

We agree that the recent increase in canopy collisions is tragic. We feel that there is a strong need to address these incidents and measures need to be implemented to thwart future occurrences within the skydiving community. However, we do not feel that this is an issue that should require any additional BSR or other policy oriented USPA intervention. We believe that this should be addressed at the local levels. In essence, we believe that the individual USPA Group Members, DZO's and S&TA's should determine the best means of addressing the issue at a local level.
In addition, local DZO's and S&TA's should rigidly enforce local measures equally to all persons at the Dropzone. We want a safe skydiving experience for all parties. This would include all skudivers to include, but not limited to; recreational skydivers, instructors, jumpmasters, demonstration jumpers, students, experienced jumpers, et cetera.
We are not expressly opposed to any measure such as segregated landing areas, limiting turns on final approach, banning, disallowing overtaking of canopies, no turning into traffic, et cetera. We simply believe and support whatever the individual dropzone determines is best for their individual operation without USPA intervention.
