This is a petition created to call for an end to the Occupy Nova Scotia movement on the Dalhousie Campus. Protestors were asked to vacate the lands at Parade Square and Victoria Park on November 11th, 2011 and have now set up shop on a square of land right in the centre of Dalhousie's Studley campus.
While the Occupy Wall St. movement had positive ideas and promoted the changing of the US tax code and corporate bonus structure on Wall St. , the Occupy movement has become more or less a gathering of those who are squatting on public (and sometimes private) land. What used to be a good movement has become one laced with drugs, unsafe living conditions, and a lack of a clear purpose.
We are asking the president of Dalhousie University along with the staff to not allow protestors to set up tents on Dalhousie's campus and to not allow protestors to use campus services (with the exception of Dalhousie University students).
