Opposition to Plans for Gas-Fired Power Plant Near the Etobicoke Valley

In protest of the proposed gas-fired power plant the city has granted Greenfield South Power Corporation to build in close proximity to the Etobicoke Creek, I have created this page and want everyone who visits to write a letter to the Ontario Power Authority and to our local officials. The Etobicoke Valley is a lush, vibrant expanse of forests, marshes and populations of wildlife. I have personally seen a male deer bounding through the forest within five feet of me! If this toxin-producing plant is built near the Valley, polluted fallout will fall into the creek and affect the wildlife and ecosystem there negatively. Such effects, as we have recently seen with the BP oil spill, can be devastating and the damage nearly irreparable. This pollution will affect ourselves and our children's health, as the plant is being built in close proximity to our very homes! This is disgusting and I cannot believe it is being permitted. I would like everyone to petition our city to do something, as this cannot stand. Do your part! An outpouring of opposition towards this plant will hopefully make an impact. They did it in Oakville when this very same plant was being proposed there. We can make our voices heard, so start writing now. Only the provincial government can stop this now. Let's make them!
