Pastures Hill & Rykneld Road, Littleover, Derby - Road Safety And Speed Limit.

Pastures Hill, Littleover, Derby, is a busy road which currently has a 40 mph speed limit. Situated on this road are three schools a nursery and a hospital. Pastures Hill eventually becomes Rykneld Road, but is essentially the same road. Over many years there have been numerous accidents on this road, many involving children. In recent years there have been two fatal accidents and several others involving injury. In addition to this there have also been many minor accidents, which could have been much worse except for good fortune! With the terrible history of accidents on this road spanning many years, it is time the local authority reduced the speed limit to something more appropriate for a road with three schools and a poor track record for road safety. The council should also consider other ways to improve safety on this road. The council have been reluctant to reduce the speed limit, as this is a main artery into Derby.
