We hereby petition the International Astronomers Union to reinstate Pluto as an official Planet. Pluto has enjoyed Planet status since 1930. With the discovery of three other Pluto-sized objects in our solar system, the status of Pluto as a planet came into question. Instead of classifying the other objects as planets, Pluto was demoted. This is disturbing for a number of reasons:
-Pluto was obviously the second coolest planet, after Saturn, and maybe tied with Uranus. (Mars was cool in the 50s, but now it's passe.);
-We all grew up with Pluto, and theres a lot to be said for tradition;
-What will the new memory method be, now that "My Very Elderly Mother Just Sat Under" leaves us all wondering what my ailing mother has hanging over her head?;
-This could be an elaborate ploy by the Disney Corporation to provide an excuse to re-issue every Mickey Mouse cartoon and reap the profits.
-The International Astronomers Union is obviously too lazy to process the paperwork for three new planets, and felt that it was easier to process the paperwork to demote one;
-Look, nobody wanted "Xena" in the solar system, but they didn't have to take it out on Pluto;
-A NASA craft is currently hurtling toward Pluto... and if the brilliant people at NASA think Pluto is a planet worth of exploration, then that should be good enough for the IAU!;
-Plutos unique orbit (which contributed to its demotion because it overlaps with Neptune) was just Pluto trying to be original and express itself, and that makes this a violation of Plutos rights;
-Pluto is obviously too small to defend itself against this sort of bullying;
Please sign the petition to reinstate Pluto! PEOPLE FOR PLUTO!
Screw Xena though. We don't like Xena.
