The Story Development, Netherhall Road (2/2011/0382) and Camp Farm (2/2011/0441).

One of the most interesting areas surveyed by geophysics, the field once the Deer Park of the Sehnouse Estate is now subject to a request for planning permission by Allerdale Borough Council. A developer wishes to build an estate of 152 houses there.
The scheme has met with considerable local opposition on grounds of road safety and adverse environmental issues, and because of the destruction of archaeology on a site so close to the Roman fort at Maryport. Preliminary archaeological surveys have already revealed burials, a Romano-British enclosure, a Roman road and possible medieval structures.
Disappointingly, Hadrian's Wall heritage Ltd., the owners of Camp Farm, have backed the development, because it will provide them with a cheap access road to their proposed visitors centre.
