Petition to Save Without a Trace

TO: Les Moonves, CBS CEO and President

RE: Possible Cancellation of 'Without a Trace'

We have heard of the threat to a show that has become near and dear to our hearts is 'on the bubble.' We are sending you this plea to save our show, "Without a Trace."

We are loyal fans who have been following the show since season one. We have stuck by it through scheduling changes, the writer's strike, and even through storylines that ignited furious debates on fan forums. We are deeply attached to this show and had fully expected it to run one more season. Many of us are depending on that season for closure.

While we do not know the inside details on production costs versus ratings, we do know that "Without a Trace" has proven itself continually to the network. Each time it was moved to a new night, no matter the competition, it always managed to rise to the top in total viewers. How many shows did you have before "Without a Trace" that can prove themselves that way? Particularly a show that gets very little publicity or press? I believe it was even your very own network that noted "Without a Trace" wins a time slot that has not been won in 14 years. 14 years!! Please tell me that your network does not take that success lightly.

Sure, the show has flaws and can improve. Many of us fans feel the show's powers that be would benefit from re-watching seasons one through four in order to fully understand the fans frustrations about the current ersatz version of the show they love. Yes, we want the show's powers that be to spread the love and storylines to the whole cast. Give each of them a fulfilling, meaningful storyline so the entire fanbase gets some satisfaction. It is us fans who continue to stick by the show and tune in every week in the hopes of seeing their favorite character dig into a juicy storyline or compelling case file. Be it Martin fans, Danny fans, Jack fans, Samantha fans, Vivian fans or Elena fans. We have come to love each of these characters and root for them every week. We were counting on season eight to bring their lives and storylines to a close. We need that season, we need that time to say goodbye to the characters that mean so much to us.
