Pirates of the Carribean 2006 Anti-Enhancement

In 2006, Walt Disney Imagineering announced that the popular flume-based attraction, 'Pirates of the Caribbean,' at both Disneyland in California, and The Magic Kingdom in Florida, would undergo a complete overhaul, to incorporate characters from the 'Pirates of the Caribbean' feature-length film, largely changing the plot of the attraction. This would be the first major change to the layout of the attraction in nearly 40 years, since it opened in 1967.

Countless park guests have experienced the rides in their original form, and many agree that the rides not only do not need to be updated, but shouldn't be for nostalgic and historic reasons.

The fans also understand that updates are expected to happen, but feel that instead of changing a classic attraction, perhaps Walt Disney Imagineering could incorporate a seperate track 'loop', so one could choose whether or not to experience the classic, or the new version, based on the film.

Currently the Disneyland attraction is scheduled to close on March 6, 2006, to allow for the new features to be installed, with the Florida counterpart to close on March 1, 2006.


We ask that Walt Disney Imagineering rethink their approach to enhancing this classic attraction.
