In the fall of 2007, Hofstra University erected new signs throughout its campus in an attempt to make Hofstra more accessible to new students and to visitors. While we appreciate the intent of this decision, it is our opinion that the style of these signs conflicts greatly with the overall aesthetic beauty of Hofstra's campus. Hofstra University strives to one day stand tall among the schools of the Ivy League, yet the image the new signs represents is one that will only detract from Hofstra's prestige. Therefore, in the interest of Hofstra University's integrity and appeal, we respectfully request that the aforementioned signs be replaced by those of a more stylistically appropriate nature. Additionally, any replacement signs should be approved by the student body, faculty, and all considerate members of the Hofstra community.
