Quit Maltese Participation in Eurovision Song Contest

A great portion of the limited amount the government grants the local Arts scene are wasted on the participation in the Eurovision Song Contest. Every year, tens of thousands of the taxpayers' money is wasted so that ONE singer can go for an ego trip around Europe and take with him or her an entourage of reporters and officials who are practically just in it for the holiday.
This money can be used more wisely, for example, by giving local singers more opportunities, investing in Theatre, Dance, Art.
We believe that Malta should stop participating in the Eurovision Song Contest with immediate effect and that the amounts wasted on this irreslevant competition should be distributed properly and wisely to promote the true artistic talents of the Maltese. This would ensure we stopped bring humiliated year in, year out and invest in local talent and help it grow. Maybe finally the thousands of pounds squandered on the contest are re-routed to more important cultural projects.
