Reduce Charges for Danny Pollack

This petition is specifically to reduce the charges against Danny Pollack.

I understand that Dannys threatening messages to Anna were irrational and startling. First, I think the blame should not be etched onto Danny, but upon the school and staff. Principal Raymond Pasi was quoted by The Washington Post. In this age . . . what we say and what we write is taken so much more seriously than it ever has been before," he said. "I think young people need to learn that." It is obvious that Danny did not consider his actions serious and they were only in humor. If Principal Pasi wants the students to learn the seriousness of school threats, then the situation should be given a more serious tone from the staff. If it is an issue, then it should be seriously and more thoroughly discussed by the staff to the students.

Second, although I do not know specifically what was said in the messages, I do not believe they were specific enough to be considered a serious threat. Authorities claimed that the messages only proposed the killing of Anna and harm to unspecific others with no claims of how it would be performed. I think it was a tactful act for the police to search Yorktown school for any hazards around 2 a.m. the next day. The thorough search proved that there were no hazards found.

Finally, Danny is a good kid. Most people who know him can safely and benevolently express this. He would never mean to carry out the threats that he proposed to Anna. He would never even proclaim a serious threat to anyone. This can be proved by his confession to the anonymous messages. He was with Anna at the time that he stated his confession.

I hope that whomever Danny Pollacks judge may be, that s/he may consider this petition as a reducing factor to his sentence when he is trialed. This was nothing but a joke taken too far by both the Messenger and the Victim.
