Reinstate Good Time Into Michigan Prisons

My wife just got sentenced over her guidelines of 0-13 monthes and the judge sentenced her to 24 monthes. I believe good time should be reinstated again but with a little change. I believe people charged with habituals should be allowed to qualify for good time. I believe any non violent offender should instantly start qualifying for good time as soon as they enter prison. I do however believe violent offenders should have to do 75\% of their minimum sentence before they can start qualifing for good time and if they go that long without any problems than they will be able to start their good time. I believe this will help the over crowding issue in prison and it will give prisoners hope to have something to look forward to so violence in prison will go down. Because if you have certain people in prison who qualify and certain who don't those people who dont qualify wont care. I really believe this would help michigans economy and also not worry people about releasing violent offenders out in the street.

My fiance is serving his 9th year of a minimum 16 year sentence -- his charges were a result of a drug addiction kicked long ago! The punishment was too severe for his crime.
