Remove Brian Frons From Power

We the undersigned bring about this petition in an attempt to relieve Head of ABC daytime, Brian Frons, of his duties. The incompetence, and brash rudeness of Mr. Frons are the reasons for this petition.

Mr. Frons has become completely incompetent for the duties he must perform. The most explicit example of his failure is shown by the television ratings for the week of June 30th, 2003 to July 4th, 2003. The ratings for ABC daytime dropped a total of .9. This drop is comprised of a .4 drop in viewers of the show General Hospital, a .2 drop in viewers of One Life To Live, a .2 drop in views of All My Children, and a .1 drop in viewers of Port Charles. This incredible drop in viewers in one week is testament to Mr. Frons inability to lead ABC daytime. The recent decision to cancel the show Port Charles further exemplifies Mr. Frons incompetence. The evidence used above shows that of all ABC shows Port Charles lost the least amount of viewers, yet it is the one scheduled for termination. The decision to cancel Port Charles was based on a ratings/ financial problem; Mr. Frons himself created this when he made little to no effort to have Port Charles shown on all ABC affiliates. The last example of Mr. Frons incompetence to be used in his petition is his release of unaired happenings on various daytime shows, commonly referred to as spoilers. An example of this action can be found in a recent SoapCity interview conducted by Mari Lyn Henry; Mr. Frons is quoted to say, At the moment people are really looking for Mitch [Roscoe Born] to get his. They want him to pay for all of the horrible things he has done. Dont miss the show on July 2! Though most of these spoilers are subtle, such is the case in all spoilers released. While it is true that the release of spoilers are common practice, it should not be done by the President of ABC daytime, this should be left to the writers, actors, and probing fan bases.

The second contention that will be used in this petition to provide reason for Mr. Frons termination is his rudeness, and inability to relate to his viewers. The leader of an organization, especially one so connected to the public masses, such as ABC, should be able to at least keep up a faзade of caring and understanding. A prime example of Mr. Frons incompetence at understanding both public relations and human feelings is evident in this quote Those are two extremes of characters who are totally different people, one of whom is certainly the most glamorous woman in daytime and the other being possibly the least glamorous, but most relatable character. Marcy came on to the show last fall and is played by Kathy Brier, a marvelous actress, who is the standby for Marissa Jaret Winokur in Hairspray on Broadway. She has an incredible voice, is not beautiful, is overweight and the audience has just embraced her, because she is not perfect like everybody else. She is real and the character she plays has the biggest heart in our lineup. This quote appeared in the same interview mentioned above. After facing public outrage Mr. Frons contacted SoapCity and had the quote shortened to make it far less uncaring, though in essence it is still utterly disrespectful.

This is why we are asking you, the true leaders of ABC to, consider removing Mr. Frons from this position that he is so completely unsuited for. We strongly believe that it is in the best interest of ABC, to remove Mr. Frons from any position of power. Thank you for your time.
