Remove Registration Numbers from the OFA Website

It has been brought to the attention of the Catahoula community that registration numbers posted on the OFA website were copied and used in a third partys online database. This event has sent a tidal wave of upset and worries through the Catahoula community and has brought a fact to our attention: With the number of unethical breeders and puppy millers in existence whose only goal is to make a dollar off of the dog fancy, the registration numbers are far too accessible on the OFA website. We appreciate the necessity of the OFA to have the registration numbers to maintain its database and make accurate connections between related dogs, but we feel it is unnecessary for those numbers to be posted on the publicly accessible website along with the test results.
This petition is in no way meant as a slight on the OFA, nor is it meant to reflect negatively on the vital services that the OFA provides for the dog world. It is meant solely to bring to the attention of the OFA that we are uncomfortable with our dogs registration numbers being posted for the general public to access and possibly use in false registration or presentation of their dogs or for the use in unaffiliated private databases.
